Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital (KMUH)
was established in 1957, which is providing a place for student to
practice. In the beginning of setting up, we borrowed school
classrooms as ward, and rented houses as Outpatients Clinic to begin
the medical service and clinical teaching. The first stage
construction in hospital was established in 1970, which is a
completely teaching hospital---it had 350 beds, and purchased newly
medical instruments and facilities for clinical teaching, as well as
strengthened internal management of hospital¡Fit won everyone¡¦s
compliment by excellent medical skills and thoughtful service
quality. |

In 1978, KMUH has accredited by the Ministry of Education
and the Department of Health as the ¡§First Class Teaching
Hospital"(The first hospital accreditation program implemented by
government in Taiwan), and this honor of granting to be the medical
center had been acquired until now to maintain the stable position.
The KMUH was certified by the Ministry of Finance as ¡§Good
Accounting Records Hospital¡¨ in 1979. Under the completely system of
management and stable mode of operation, there is always surplus of
annual medical service, which is treated as the financial source of
keeping development. Except from improving the employee¡¦s treatment,
the hospital is also working on improving the environment of
hospital when people take medical treatment. Besides, this hospital
purchases advanced clinical instruments and facilities, as well as
the enlargement of hospital is accomplished. The fifth stage
construction was established on this year June 2003, this new
building with over 1600 beds, and it is one of the most important
medical institutions. |

KMUH has the missions of teaching, researching and
service of medical treatment. The three missions have to be carried
on at the same time. The hospital is established for 46 years, and
it is the achievement that many people work hard on it. All staffs
of this hospital are keeping on improve the quality of service,
creating value, and satisfying the need of customer. |

I am very proud of our achievement. More importantly, we
have a bright future ahead of us. I encourage everyone of us to keep
up with excellence effort in fulfilling our mission as a leader in
health care and medical education. |
