Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital (KMUH), established in 1957, is a multispecialty hospital located in Kaohsiung City. It is one of the largest hospitals in southern Taiwan, with 1,600 beds and eight special centers, including craniofacial reconstruction, total joint replacement, cardiovascular intervention, cardiac surgery, and dental implantation. In 1978, KMUH was one of the first four hospitals accredited by the Taiwan Joint Commission on Hospital Accreditation as a "First-Class Teaching Hospital." Since then, KMUH has expanded its facilities and purchased the latest in medical equipment, including a 3-Tesla magnetic resonance imaging scanner and a 64-slice computed tomography scanner. The hospital also uses PET (positron emission tomography) and provides TomoTherapy radiation treatments. The Kao-Xing Center for International Medical Service serves the special needs of health travelers.
