The KMUH division of Neurosurgery carries a continuing commitment to provide excellence leadership in the major disciplines of Neurosurgery.

¡@

This division was set up in 1976. Its offers patient care and training in aspects of neurological surgery.

¡@

This division provides 100 acute-bed service  and approximately 1,500 operations annually.

¡@

The members in this division are : 13 faculty staffs, 2 chief residents and 6 residents.

Neurosurgery centers have been established in the following:

  • (1) Head injury

(a) acute: acute intracranial bleeding, open head injury, penetrate injury

(b) chronic: chronic intracranial bleeding

  • (2) Cerebrovascular diseases

AVM, Aneurysm and hypertensive intracerebral bleeding

  • (3) Brain Tumor

Every kind of benign, malignant brain minor, especially aspect of trans-sphenoidal surgery of pituitary tumor, and we quote endoscopic surgery from now.

  • (4) Functional disorders

(a) Trigeminal neuralgia, hemifacial spasm
(b) Stereotactic surgery of Brain
(c) Intractable cancer pain
(d) Parkinson's disease
(e) Epilepsy surgery
(f) Hyperhidrosis palmaris

  • (5) Pediatric neurosurgical problems and congenital malformations

•NHead disorders, hydrocephalus, spinal cord-cele

  • (6) Spinal disorders

(a) Spinal trauma, spinal fracture
(b) Intervertebral disk herniation
(c) Degenerative disease of spine
(d) Spinal tumor

  • (7) Peripheral nerve diseases

Brachial Plexus disorders, carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar nerve palsy, etc.

  • (8) Inflammation disorders

Brain and spinal cord's suppuration and cerebral meningins, meningitis

  • (9) Others

Repair of defect of skull bone, anastomosis of intra-cranial vessel, carotid artery surgery etc.
