Taiwan-Somaliland Medical Information Exchange Enhanced Building a Medical Big Data Database for Somaliland
¡@¡@Taiwan and Somaliland continue to strengthen their partnership as Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital (KMUH), in collaboration with the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF), upgrades medical information exchange. As part of the "Health Information Management Efficiency Enhancement Project in Somaliland," Somaliland¡¦s Ministry of Health Development can now receive real-time updates from hospitals, including registration, diagnoses, medical orders, and prescriptions. This enables better monitoring of hospital operations and creates a medical big data database that supports public health analysis and national health policy decisions.
¡@¡@Professor Jaw-Yuan Wang, Superintendent of KMUH, emphasized the hospital¡¦s commitment to education, service, and research, aiming to be a world-class university hospital. Together with Taiwan ICDF, KMUH developed a customized Hospital Information System (HIS) for Somaliland last year, improving its healthcare management. This year, the project achieved the milestone of real-time data exchange between hospitals and the Ministry of Health.
¡@¡@Ambassador Allen Lou of Taiwan Representative Office in the Republic of Somaliland expressed gratitude for KMUH¡¦s support, highlighting the hospital¡¦s crucial role in projects ranging from maternal health to medical information systems. During their visit, the KMUH team successfully enabled hospitals in Somaliland to automatically upload data to the central server at the Ministry of Health Development, enhancing the Taiwan-Somaliland partnership.
