Former KMU Hospital superintendent Ming-Feng Hou awarded 34th Taiwan Medical Dedication Awards

ˇ@ˇ@The 34th Taiwan Medical Dedication Award, often called the ˇ§Academy Award of Medicineˇ¨ held its ceremony on October 19, 2024. Professor Ming-Feng Hou, former superintendent of Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital and an esteemed breast surgeon, received this prestigious honor. A delegation led by Vice Director Fang-Ming Chen, the breast surgery team, and the Cotton Tree Care Club traveled to Taipei to celebrate with him, creating a heartwarming and touching scene.

ˇ@ˇ@Professor Hou has been dedicated to breast cancer prevention and treatment for over 40 years. Renowned for his expertise in breast surgery, he has earned the trust of countless patients. Beyond surgical interventions, he has actively promoted accurate information, continuous health education, and academic research, emphasizing cancer prevention from a public health perspective. His efforts have significantly raised awareness and improved outcomes, earning KMU repeated recognition as the ˇ§Breast Cancer Life-Saving Championˇ¨ by Taiwanˇ¦s Health Promotion Administration.

ˇ@ˇ@Recognizing the importance of academic research for clinical physicians, Professor Hou was listed among the top 2% of scientists worldwide in 2024 by Stanford University. His groundbreaking research has garnered international acclaim. He has inspired the KMU breast surgery team by sharing his academic resources, participating in domestic and international conferences, and leading over 400 SCI-indexed publications. Each year, he organizes the Kaohsiung International Cancer Symposium, the largest international conference in Southern Taiwan, fostering opportunities to advance clinical skills and connect with the global medical community.
