Division of Chest Surgery

This division treats surgical conditions of the tracheobronchial trees, lungs, esophagus, mediastinum, diaphragm, chest wall and ribs.

Endoscopic examination of tracheobronchial trees and esophagus has been regularly performed for many years. Nuss procedure for pectus excavatum, Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS) with needlescopy for lobectomy and wedge resection and esophageal surgeries are common procedure by our team. Besides, a Nd-YAG laser is newly introduced in 2012 to provide laser cauterization for the benign and malignant tracheobronchial obstructive lesions. In recent years, bronchial and esophageal stents were implanted to support the cases with unresectable tracheobronchial and esophageal obstruction.
