Introduction

The Department of Anesthesiology was established in 1965.

Equipped with a variety of advanced anesthetic machines and cutting-edge monitors, services such as general anesthesia, epidural anesthesia, total intravenous anesthesia and post-operative Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) are offered to maintain excellent quality of both health care and patient safety.

In 1967, the first pain clinic in Taiwan was set up in our department. With plenteous knowledge and skills, the dedicated team members of the pain clinic integrate different nerve blocking techniques with drugs and/or Chinese traditional acupuncture to treat patients who are suffered from pain of various origins.

Besides medical services, programs, e.g. teaching the med students for clerkship, internship and PGY, training the residents for residency, and advanced training session for visiting physicians from hospitals worldwide are also core business of our department. In addition, colleagues are requested to upgrade special knowledge through participation in scientific conferences and attendance of international anesthesia meeting.
