在台灣醫界之努力下，肝炎發生率雖有逐漸下降之趨勢，但肝癌仍高居台灣十大死因之前二位，為持續推動肝炎防治工作，7月28日為世界衛生組織發起之世界肝炎日，高醫肝炎防治中心於同日正式成立，未來將投入更多人力及物力，培養優秀人才，與國際肝炎防治組織交流，並結合民間組織加強推動肝炎防治工作。
