To organize the resources of all clinical departments and accelerate transplantation medicine and basic research, we established the “Organ Transplant Center” in August 2002, which was then reorganized into the “Transplant Center” in August 2003.
The aims and goals of our center are to provide solid organ and tissue transplantation to save the life of recipients and to improve their life quality. The current director is Dr.King-Teh Lee, Professor of surgery.
We provide services:

4. Kidney transplant (living-donor kidney transplantation included)
5. Pancreas transplant
6. Cornea transplant
We're home to staffs of the people who devote to every organ or tissue transplantation and we provide an integrated, multidisciplinary service which includes:
- Assessing patients’ suitability for transplantation: The surgeons and medical specialists who guide people to new lives as organ recipients. Eligibility for the waiting list is decided after a multidisciplinary meeting of surgeons, medical specialists, anesthetists, intensive care physicians, transplant coordinators and social workers.
- Comprehensive education and support for all patients on the waiting list: Our multidisciplinary services provide comprehensive education and the care and support of all patients on the waiting list before transplant. And the surgeons provide explanation of transplant process. We also provide information about transplantation to all individuals and medical experts who need our consultation.
- Transplant surgery with aftercare: The surgeons, physicians, nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, social workers, and clinical coordinators who provide transplant surgery and care and support after surgery.
- Post-transplant care and follow-up: Newly transplanted patients are seen in clinic at least once a week; the interval between clinic appointments is gradually extended. The team offers help and advice outside of these appointments. All patients take immunosuppressant (anti-rejection) drugs long term and are monitored regularly to minimize any side-effects.
- Organ donation: We coordinate inter-hospital organ donation and promote the concept of organ donation .We also provide psychological support to the families of organ donors.
- Basic and clinical research in transplant medicine: we organize and promote researches in basic and clinical fields of transplant medicine to improve the surgical results and life quality of our recipients.
