Project Introduction
I. Summary:

Since the establishment of our hospital in 1957, we have been the leading medical institution in southern Taiwan. We have been certified as a teaching hospital since 1979, and have been accredited as a medical center since the inception of the accredition system in 1988. Beginning in 2002, we have hosted approximately 34 medical students from various countries for short-term clerkships each year. In 2009, we started to work with Stanford's Global Studies (previously the overseas program at the Center for East Asian Studies), and hosted our first Stanford Undergraduate Summer Interns in 2011.

We value our international interns' experience, and take their feedback seriously, and try to incorporate their suggestions and make continuous improvement to our programs and the departments which host the interns. We aim to provide an enriched learning environment that allows the interns to gain invaluable practical training in the areas they desire. Currently, we have already hosted 11 students from Stanford University who have completed their internship at our academic medical center.

II. Objective:
Our hospital has always strived for excellence to be among the best academic medical centers globally.  We believe that by promoting international educational and cultural exchange, our staffs can recognize the value of diversity, and discover new ideas with a multi-cultural perspective.  In turn, facilitate our hospital’s growth and improvement.
