Internship Department Introduction
Our department provides traditional rehabilitation in fields of musculoskeletal disorders, neurological disorders, cardiopulmonary disorders, pediatric disorders, communication and swallows disorders and fabrication of orthosis. We also develop various advanced treatment approaches, including functional electric stimulation, energy rehabilitation, orthosis development. In the cooperation of government policy and under government pension, we have special rehabilitation service, including integrated clinic for disabled population, pediatric early intervention center, work ability evaluation and work hardening center. In education, we provide training for residency, internship and clerkship course in physical medicine and rehabilitation. In research, we focus on clinical and basic studies in the fields of arthritis and soft tissue disorders, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, central nervous system diseases.
Internship Learning Objective and Training Program Outline
- Learning objectives
- To gain knowledge in the principle of physical medicine and rehabilitation
- To gain knowledge in the multi-facet assessment of structural and functional aspects of impairment and disability
- To gain the knowledge in the process of multidiscipline team care
- Basic program: attend lectures, conferences, ward rounds, and clinical observation to gain knowledge in various fields and common diseases in Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, such as stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, musculoskeletal disorders.
- Advanced program: clinical observation of related examinations in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, such as soft tissue ultrasound, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, nerve conduction study and electromyography, to gain the knowledge of strength and limitation of examination in clinical diagnosis.
- Comprehensive program: assistance in the clinical practice encountering patients with central nervous system diseases, heart and lung diseases, or musculoskeletal diseases; clinical practice under supervision and assistance of senior advisors in musculoskeletal ultrasound, nerve conduction studies, extracorporeal shockwave therapy; learn the setup of rehabilitation goal and individualized training program through discussion with physiatrists and therapists.
