I. Summer Internship Department Introduction
The Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Department of Surgery, KMUH was established in 1977. The main goal is focused on the reconstruction of the congenital and acquired soft tissue deformities to improve the functional and cosmetic results.
The featured medical treatment includes autologous breast reconstruction, endoscopic varicose vein surgery, diabetic foot reconstruction, blepharoptosis correction, free flap for head & neck reconstruction, hand surgery, burns intensive care, craniofacial surgery, endoscopic surgery, tophus surgery and cosmetic laser surgery.


II. Summer InternshipLearning Objective and Training Program Outline
1. Operation and patient care

  • Observation in primary care patients, ward-rounds and operations conducted by residents and attending physicians
  • Learning the skills of history taking, physical examination, chart recording, medical images analysis, and actively joining the group discussions.
  • Attending the academic activities, such as journal paper reading, case presentation, mortality and morbidity conference…etc.

2. Out-patient department training

  • Following patient care at outpatient department
  • Observing the treatment performed by the attending physicians
