Division of Neonatology

Neonatologyestablished in 1986is one of the earliest sub-special fields of Pediatric departments in KMUH. We serves as a local, and regional referral center for pre- and postnatal consultation, neonatal intensive care, and infant follow–up care. In particular, we care for extremely premature infants as early as 24 weeks gestation and as small as 490g and full-term infants with a variety of medical and surgical illnesses. We care for newborns in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and our Complete Nursing Unit (CNU).

Besides, we started neonatal transportation for the sick neonates in the southern Taiwan in 2000.  The medical services of neonatology include:
1. Baby room care for the normal newborn.
2. Neonatal intensive care for the critically ill neonate in the NICU.
3. Complete neonatal care unit (CNU) for the sick newborn-infant.
4. Neonatal transport for sick neonates from local Obstetric Clinic and
neonatal consultation and resuscitation services in the delivery room.
5. Follow-up OPD for high risk infant
6. Health baby clinic for health and vaccination consultation.
7. Clinical teaching and basic research in neonatology.
