Division of pediatric hematology/oncology was established in 1986. Through years of development and effort, we keep on improving our clinical knowledge and skill in our patient’s care. The pediatric hematology/oncology ward is located at the 10th floor of Chi-Chuan building, Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital (KMUH). We provide disease diagnosis and comprehensive treatment for children with cancer and hematological disorder. 

　　Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, including bone marrow, peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cell and cord blood transplantations have been performed for the patients in our department since 1990. The treatment outcomes are comparable to those in other international famous medical centers. In clinical research, many institutional or international clinical studies granted from Taiwan National Health Research Institute or the international pharmaceutical companies are undergoing in varied fields for our patients.

　　We also provide integrated service for the special hematological disorders, such as thalassemia, spherocytosis, hemophilia and other hereditary hemolysis and bleeding disorder in a special clinic center, established in 1986 and located on 1st floor of KMUH, for disease prevention and treatment. We provide not only care but also prenatal consultation for the patients and their family. Our molecular biological laboratory provides the genetic diagnosis for thalassemia, haemophilia and other hematological diseases.
